Jowy Cenat’s Music Revives a Lost Caribbean Genre Through the Digital Space

Music comes from every corner of the world, some being older than people think they are. Yet, as time passes by, many genres have been lost as civilizations welcomed change. But every once in a while, there are the special few who strive to bring back what was lost in time. Tracing his ethnicity from Haiti in the Caribbean Islands, Jowy Cenat kept global audiences in awe of his Caribbean-infused piano covers, captivating hearts and bringing back a forgotten piece of culture into the modern age.

As amazing as his covers are, Jowy Cenat is a self-taught musician. He did not receive any formal training whatsoever. But driven by his passion for music, Jowy was determined to create something not only beautiful but with a profound purpose. “I wanted to infuse culture into the piano by introducing a lost genre of music that is often found in the Caribbean Islands—Zouk. The genre often gets people on their feet, dancing to its rhythm.

Today, Jowy Cenat is bringing Zouk into mainstream platforms across the international scene. The artist has a distinct way of playing the piano that leaves people speechless and wanting more. To echo Jowy’s words, his piano covers bridge the gap between domestic and international music. He creates sounds that people have not heard before and keeps them “curious about the culture.”

Besides cultural beats, Jowy Cenat is also known for his covers of popular music. Joey has been playing since he was 11 years old. Currently residing in Queens, New York, the artist captures listeners through Spotify, Apple Music, and other music streaming platforms. Jowy is recognized to possess a natural gift for playing the piano. His ability to hit the right notes and land covers with closed eyes have made waves in the music industry. Jowy can effortlessly perform diverse genres, from the peaceful classical music of Ludovico Einaudi to today’s hit songs by Alicia Keys.

“My viral videos have led me to do public appearances at concerts or venues,” shared the artist. Additionally, his talents paved the way for him to be featured across multiple publications, including New York Weekly, Business Insider, CNBC, and Yahoo!

Furthermore, Jowy Cenat has published a best-selling book called Video Influencer Authority, aiming to inspire and provide a tangible map for aspiring musicians. The book is a “guide on how to use your vision, purpose, or passion to increase one’s impact with online video, all accomplished in undergrad in college.”

Joey Cenat hustled to achieve his academic career. He graduated from Stockton University with a Health Degree and two minor degrees in public and holistic health. It was certainly challenging for him to maintain an online presence while pursuing college. Nonetheless, Jowy thrived through his adversities and has become an inspiration for others to follow.

Today’s musicians can easily get overwhelmed or swayed by safe choices. Unlike others, Jowy Cenat bravely chose to rise above the status quo and pursue something different. With his ability to create something completely out of the ordinary, Jowy has proven that music is one of the strongest tools to spark change and bring back what has been forgotten.
